IMPACTivism is …
- The opposite of helplessness
- A remedy for hopelessness
- How YOU can make the world a better place
With the way things are in the world today, it’s easy to get disheartened, thinking that everything is going downhill and there’s nothing you can do about it. There are so many causes that need your help, so many groups that need supporting, and so many things that seem to be going wrong in society, and it feels sometimes like it’s only going to keep getting worse. It’s easy to lose hope. And after all, it’s not like you can do much, right?
You might be just one person, but you CAN make a difference. You CAN have an impact. Sure, you might not be able to single-handedly solve all of the world’s problems. But one person can make a donation, or volunteer, or call their representatives in government. One person can hold a sign at a protest, or circulate petitions, or mentor a child, or cook at a soup kitchen. One person can’t fix all of the world’s problems, but you can put a dent in them, one person and one action at a time.
On this site, we aim to provide tips for those seeking to turn their frustration into action. But activism isn’t just about doing something: It’s about doing the right something, about maximizing the effectiveness of your actions, taking a thoughtful approach to improving our world rather than following through on knee-jerk reactions that could do more harm than good.
Intimidated? Don’t be. Even if you’ve never done any sort of activism in your life, if you’re willing to try and your intentions are good, you’re already halfway there. Just read through our site and we’ll help you get the hang of the rest.
